
SUMMARY
The amount of solid waste, in recent decades, has increased considerably and improper handling is now one of the most serious environmental problems. Faced with this event, the Instituto Tecnológico TECSUP SUR set out to create awareness of the care and respect for the environment in the institutional community and contribute to the reduction of the negative impacts of solid waste into the environment. To achieve the above, was the need to implement a project in order to reduce the volume of plastic bottles collected in TECSUP for efficient storage and transport, as well as a pilot project to assess the possibility of its widespread use in other similar places.
The objective of this work was to design a machine crusher plastic bottles can reduce them to pieces of small dimensions, in order to facilitate the collection of these bottles when being discarded by the consumer within the campus TECSUP and storage and transport.
This paper contains the necessary values of the reference bottle, the force required to reduce its thickness volume, a study of machines that perform the same or similar functions, the idealization of the grinding process, the calculation of the power demanded by the process, the selection of each accessory basis or standard dimensioning of the parts and design of the structure.
